Quickstart

From signup to a backtested strategy in a few minutes

HorizonAI is a platform for building trading strategies by chatting. You describe an idea (or click a button and let the AI pick one) and Horizon writes the strategy, draws it on a live chart, and backtests it across several markets, automatically. When a strategy survives testing, you export it to the platform you trade on: TradingView, MetaTrader 5 or NinjaTrader.

The whole flow lives in one place: build → backtest → stress test → iterate → export. No installs, no compilers, no copy-pasting between tools until the very last step.

1) Start your free trial

  • Create your account here.
  • Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial: no credit card required. When the trial ends, pick a plan (Starter, Pro, or Elite) to keep going.

2) Tell it what to build, or let it pick

Open the create page: the big "What do you want to build?" box. You have three ways in:

  • Describe your idea in plain English: "Go long when the 20 EMA crosses above the 50, 2% stop, 3% target", then click Start building →.
  • Click an idea link. Under the box you'll see Or start from: a trend-following idea · a reversal idea · surprise me. One click and the AI invents a strategy and starts building. You don't have to know what you want yet.
  • Open a demo from the shelf below to start from a working strategy and make it yours.

Leave the platform pill alone: Horizon is the default, and it's the right choice: it's the only mode with an instant chart, instant backtests and stress testing built in. (You can also pick a group from the pill row first. That's optional, and worth doing once you have a goal like a prop-firm challenge. More on that later.)

3) Watch it build and backtest itself

Your chat opens with the strategy on the right. Two things happen without you asking:

  • The Chart tab draws your strategy live (candles, your indicators, entry/exit markers) and redraws within seconds every time the AI edits the code.
  • The first time the strategy is ready, Horizon backtests it across several markets at once: a basket of 3 to 6 instruments matched to the strategy's style. A card fills in market by market with the return and a grade for each, and the AI recommends where the edge actually holds up. See Multi-market backtests.

Click any market in the card to open its full report (equity curve, win rate, profit factor, drawdown, every trade) in the Backtest tab.

4) Stress test it

A green backtest isn't proof. Click Stress-test this strategy (the chip under the chat, or the button in the Stress test tab) and Horizon runs six checks (realistic costs, look-ahead bugs, sample size, Monte Carlo, parameter nudges, and consistency across time) in about 20 seconds, ending in a straight verdict: held up, held up with a caveat, or didn't hold up.

Most ideas fail here. That's the point: finding out costs you nothing, and the next idea is one message away. See Stress testing.

5) Iterate, or retire it and build the next one

Everything is conversational: "tighten the stop to 1.5 ATR", "add a trend filter", "why does it lose in 2023?" The chart and backtests update as you go, and the AI reads its own results back: "backtest it and tell me what's wrong" is a single message.

Strategies that keep failing get retired, not rescued. Build several that pass, make them different from each other, and collect them in a group. That's how a pile of scripts becomes a portfolio.

6) Export the winner

When a strategy has earned it, click Export in the chat header and pick your platform:

  • Pine Script → TradingView
  • MQL5 → MetaTrader 5
  • NinjaScript → NinjaTrader 8

The export opens in a new chat, in the target language, ready to copy or download. Your Horizon original stays untouched. This is the only moment you touch another platform. See Exporting from Horizon, then the platform guide for wherever you trade.

Prefer to talk to a platform directly?

Still fully supported. Use the platform pill on the create page to build in TradingView (Pine Script), MT5 (MQL5) or NinjaTrader (NinjaScript) directly. Pine and MQL5 even have their own in-app backtesters. It's just no longer the recommended path: those languages iterate slower, and NinjaScript can't be backtested in-app at all. Build in Horizon, export at the end.

  2. Backtesting: results in seconds, in the chat
  3. Multi-market backtests: where does the edge hold up?
  4. Stress testing: is the edge real?
  5. Groups: collect the survivors into a portfolio
