Building in Horizon

Groups

One strategy is a bet. A group of uncorrelated strategies is a portfolio.

Serious trading isn't one perfect strategy: it's several decent, different ones sharing the risk. A group is how HorizonAI holds that idea: a named collection of strategies with an optional goal and rules attached. Give a group a mandate ("pass an FTMO $100k challenge, max 8% drawdown, forex and indices only") and every strategy you build inside it is steered by those rules automatically.

Groups are available on every plan, and everything about them is optional: you can build without one. But if you have any real goal (a prop-firm challenge, a funded account, a personal risk cap), put a group around it early.

Create a group

  1. Go to My Scripts and find the Groups section in the left sidebar. Click + New.
  2. Give it a name (e.g. "FX majors, low correlation") and an optional description.
  3. Open Goal & rules (optional, collapsed by default) to set the mandate:
    • Goal: plain English, e.g. "Pass an FTMO $100k challenge, then scale."
    • Instruments (multi-select): Forex, Crypto, Indices, Stocks, Commodities, Futures. Pick every market this group may trade; none selected means any market.
    • Max drawdown % and Max daily loss %: the risk numbers that matter for prop-firm rules and your own sanity.
  4. Click Create group.

Build strategies into it

On the create page, the Group pill sits next to the platform pill. Pick your group before you hit Start building (or before you click one of the idea links) and the new strategy is created inside it.

From then on, in every chat on that strategy:

  • The AI knows the mandate and lets it steer every proposal (strategy style, instruments, stop and risk settings) and briefly says so when the rules shape a choice. Ask for something outside the mandate and it'll flag it; you can always override explicitly.
  • A blue group tag in the chat header shows which group the thread belongs to.

Existing strategies can join too: on My Scripts, use the ⋯ menu → Add to group on any script (a script can be in more than one group), or use Select for bulk add/remove.

Work the group in My Scripts

Click a group in the sidebar and My Scripts filters to just its strategies, with a mandate strip at the top showing the goal and rule badges (edit it with the pencil). This is your portfolio view: which ideas are proven, which are still in testing, which should be retired.

Deleting a group never deletes the strategies in it.

How to use groups well

The workflow that groups are built for:

  1. Set the mandate once: goal, markets, risk limits.
  2. Build many candidate strategies inside it, each one backtested across markets and stress tested.
  3. Keep the passers, retire the rest. Most ideas won't survive the stress test; that's the system working.
  4. Aim for variety, not copies. Ask the assistant for strategies that make money in different conditions (a trend-follower, a mean-reverter, different markets) so the group doesn't win and lose all at once. Ten variations of the same EMA crossover is one strategy with extra steps.
  5. Export the survivors to the platform you trade on. See Exporting from Horizon.

Fine print

  • Group membership is managed from My Scripts and the create page. The chat header tag is read-only.
  • The mandate steers the AI; it isn't a hard enforcement layer. Check the numbers on the Backtest tab as usual.
  • Groups don't yet compute portfolio statistics across their strategies. Today the AI guidance and your own judgement do that job.
